It is Shakespeare but with singing, dancing and gangsters!

"Kiss Me, Kate" is a toe-tapping musical that twirls around the chaotic lives of theatre actors, mixing Shakespearean comedy with backstage antics! Picture this: a fiery leading lady, a charismatic, egotistical leading man, and a meddling ex-couple who can't stop bickering. Set against a Broadway backdrop, expect dazzling dance numbers, mistaken identities, and uproarious humour. With catchy tunes and romantic entanglements galore, it's a whirlwind of love, jealousy, and showbiz shenanigans that'll leave you humming and laughing long after the curtain falls! Who are you and what is your role in the show?:  Veronica Clavijo playing Gangster 2 Christine Forbes playing Hattie

Tell us about yourselves!:

Veronica:I’ve been performing since I was a kid and I absolutely love it. I just truly love to tell stories! I studied full-time performing arts after school and have worked in the performing arts industry for 15 years as an actor and performer. I’m currently completing my Masters in Creative Writing, I am still acting, and I have a beautiful little 3-year-old son who takes up most of my time.

Christine: I have been involved with musical theatre for over 20 years. It’s such a wonderful place to find community, build confidence, and share what I love doing with others. Outside of theatre, I am also involved in Ballroom and Latin dancing, on top of working full time.

What can audiences look forward to when they come to see the show?

Veronica: The show is funny and entertaining and the whole cast and production team have been working so hard to bring a quality show to life. Be prepared to laugh! Be prepared to be dazzled by the choreography! Be prepared to walk out with a bunch of Cole Porter classics buzzing through your head!

Christine: "Kiss Me, Kate" is such a fantastic show! Audiences can look forward to powerhouse vocals, amazing choreography, and wonderful performances all-round.

How has the rehearsal process been?

Veronica: It’s been so enjoyable. Every single person in the room brings such a positive, creative, and supportive energy. Our production team is just chef’s kiss!

Christine: Rehearsals have been great fun. Everyone involved is working so hard to get the show ready, whilst having such an awesome time together in the process.

What do you like about the show? Why did you choose to be involved?

Veronica: I love a ‘play-within-a-play’ and I love the parallels between "The Taming Of The Shrew" and the "Kiss Me, Kate" storyline. When you think nothing else could go wrong, you get two gangsters involved.

Christine: I grew up watching "Kiss Me, Kate" and other classic musicals on television with my mum and my sisters. "Kiss Me, Kate" was always a favourite due to the amazing score and story. It’s just such an entertaining story, with the interesting twist of being a show within a show.

Other than yourself, which cast member do you think audiences should keep an eye out for? Who is really bringing it?

Veronica: Our leading lady, Georgia. Wow! What a voice AND she is hysterical in the role of Lili Vanessi.

Christine: We have some fantastic performers in this production! Apart from our amazing principals, I would recommend looking out for our supporting cast. You won’t want to miss the opening number of the second act, led by the character of “Paul” … it’s going to be smoking hot!

What do you want the audience to think about? What is the message of the show?

Veronica: Brush up your Shakespeare, start quoting him now…..(hehe)

Christine: While this show is a feast for the senses with the amazing music by Cole Porter, the wonderful sets and costumes, and the top-class performances from the cast and orchestra, I guess it’s also about being true to yourself. Having passion in what we do and being with people we love and care about. Understanding the complexities of relationships and the importance of intimate connections having a good power balance, and also the camaraderie that exists within theatre communities.
